Sandy's Deer 2x2

Ryan's Deer 2x3

This is how we had to hang them. To prevent the animals to getting them.

WE GOT OUR DEER

Well we got our deer on Monday the 13th. I had to show you a picture of this moose. He scared the crap out of me. It was monday morning on the 13th, and I had to take the kids to school. So I though on the way back I would go another way home. I was looking for deer on the way home. When I came around the bend and there he was climbing the hill. Good thing I was in the car. I just happened to have my camera so I took some pictures. At that time I didn't care if I saw a deer or not. Because I was in aw of just watching this majestic animal. I think they are just beautiful. I had my dog with me. She saw the moose and went bannana's. She was barking and growling at him. I watched him until I couldn't watch him no more. Then me and Fancy came home. Until I decided to go out later. Later that day Ryan and I decided to go out. He asked me to go and brush through some trees, and meet him on top of the ridge while he was watching. So I started to go down through the tree's of course being a little scared. Considering we have to watch out for cougar's where we live. So I walked a little ways stopped, looked around making sure I wasn't getting stalked by a cougar. When I finally made over to Ryan we just sat down and waited. It was getting late it was perfect timing. Because the deer started to come out. We heard some rustling down below us, so Ryan said to be ready for anything. Next thing here comes some doe, and more doe. Then out come these two bucks. Ryan shot first the deer didn't know what hit him. His was walking away from him so he hit him in the back of the head. Mine was standing broadside I hit him right in the lungs. So here we are on the mountain with two deer to clean out and it's starting to get dark. I'm trying to hurry and get them tagged. Ryan is trying to hurry and get them cleaned out. He said to me we need to hurry before the cougars smell the fresh blood. So then I go into panic mode. Because it's getting dark, fresh killed animals, and there COUGARS. I was kind of freaked out. We started down the hill pulling our deer. Of course I'm not much help pulling the deer. We realized we have a long way to pull them. Ryan had said that he had seen our neighbors earlier coming up the mountain. So I'm thinking to myself boy it would be nice to have some help. Before I knew it here comes our neighbors bee bopin down the mountain. We asked them if they could help up us. THANK HEAVENS FOR THEM. We would probably been up there till midnight. We got them home washed out and hung. We had to hang in the tree funny. Due to the fact that we have dogs and other wild animals around. Here are some pictures of them.

It's Deer Hunting Time

The general deer hunting opened October 10. Talk about a whole different world up here when it comes to hunting. It's s different than Utah. Up here you can still buy your tag after the hunt has opened. Where in Utah you can't, once the hunt open you can't buy your tag. The deer hunt ends on the 31st of October. Almost a whole month. I can't believe it. Where in Utah it's a couple of weekends is it. Then the Cow Elk runs in with the Deer hunt. So were going Cow Elk hunting which starts on the 25th of this month. So that means we can hunt deer and cow elk at the same time. It's also different because you can hunt in the whole state of Idaho, but you just need to make sure your not on the Indian Reservation. Also there's certain area's that are 2 point only or 4 point only. There is so much country to hunt up here. So many hiding places.
Well we headed out on the 10th up behind our house and we seen a couple. So Ryan and Bailey decided to walk down through some trees. They pushed a couple of deer out. Then I started walking down the mountain along the edge of the trees. I scared out some more deer. I noticed that one was a buck. I really didn't he a good look to see how big he was, but I knew he had horns. But before I could get my rifle up, he flipped around back in the trees he went. So I yelled at Ryan that there was a buck coming his way. The buck stopped for a little while in the tree's long enough for Ryan to tell it was a buck, he went to shoot. But that deer must of known what was going on because just as Ryan went to shoot. The buck took off up out of the tree's before Ryan could do anything. He yelled at me that he was coming my way but I was to far down the hill. He had gone up and over before I could get up there. Damn Deer anyway.
Bailey was so funny because she said that when she was in the trees that this doe come up and looked her almost straight in the eyes. She said that the deer looked scared shit less, and was saying in her mind the deer was thinking which way do I go. Bailey said she had never been that close to a deer before. Kelton was at home through all of this. He said it was to cold for him. I think the TV was calling his name. He's my couch potato. Oh well he loves to watch his football with his dad.
I'm going to try to get some deer hunting pictures sometime soon. Every time I think about it I realize I don't have my camera. I'm just being a blonde.
